Balloons only fly at dawn, when the air is calmest. That means an early pick-up (often before 5am), but the reward is watching the sun rise over the Valley of the Kings. It is worth every minute of lost sleep.
The flight drifts above the Valley of the Kings, the terraced Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon, with the green Nile Valley on one side and the desert hills on the other. The views are unbeatable.
Flights are operated by licensed pilots following strict safety standards. You receive a full safety briefing before take-off, and the balloon is guided the entire time. As with any flight, it is weather-dependent and can be cancelled at short notice if conditions are unsafe — in which case you are rescheduled or refunded.
Balloon rides are gentle and smooth — there is no jolt or sudden movement. They are not recommended for pregnant women, young children or those with certain heart or back conditions. If in doubt, ask us.
It is cool and breezy before sunrise, especially in winter, so bring a light jacket. Wear flat, comfortable shoes for the ground and the basket, and bring a camera — the photos are extraordinary.
