Planning a trip to Egypt? One of the first things to sort is your visa — and the good news is that it is quick, cheap and straightforward for most travellers.

Most nationalities do. There are two easy routes: an e-Visa (recommended) or a visa on arrival at major international airports. Citizens of a handful of countries can enter visa-free or with different rules, so always confirm your own nationality’s requirements before you book.
Apply online before you travel through Egypt’s official government portal (visa2egypt.gov.eg). It costs roughly US$25 for single entry or US$60 for multiple entry, each granting a 30-day stay. Approval is usually quick, and it spares you a queue on arrival.
Important: only ever apply through the official site — look-alike sites charge inflated fees.
Available at major airports such as Cairo, Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh. As of 2026 the fee is around US$30 for a single-entry, 30-day visa, payable in cash US dollars at the bank kiosk before passport control. Bring crisp, clean bills.
Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date, with at least one blank page.
